Uninterrupted Communication in Field Operations
Power distribution lines, industrial plants and construction sites are usually built where cellular coverage is weak or absent. Crews spread out along kilometres of line, metal and concrete cut the signal inside a plant, and on a site coverage changes as floors go up. BosNets keeps team communication running independently of that infrastructure: over the internet where there is coverage, and over the mesh network the BosMag devices form among themselves where there is not. Field workers receive written instructions, share their location and can raise an emergency alert with one press, while the site supervisor and safety officer follow the whole crew on one screen. All communication is timestamped, which leaves a verifiable record for safety reporting and post-incident review.
Where it is used
Power distribution and transmission lines
Maintenance crews work outside settlements, in corridors where the coverage map is blank. During fault-finding, crews spread along the line and lose sight of each other. With BosNets each crew's position is visible on the map and it is known who is working at which pole; switching instructions are sent in writing and recorded.
Industrial plants
In refineries, factories and mines, metal structures and concrete cut the cellular signal, and shift crews work scattered across the site. Because devices relay for each other, coverage travels with the crew wherever they are.
Construction sites
On a site, coverage changes as floors rise and the building envelope closes. Coordination between the crane operator, floor crews and the site supervisor is limited to voice traffic on the radio. Written instructions and location sharing remove the misheard verbal instruction.

Lone working, work at height and confined space entry are where the emergency button makes the difference. When it is pressed, the worker's identity and location reach everyone on the network, and the response team gets directions instead of searching for them.

Spoken instructions leave no record and are misheard on a noisy site. A written message waits, carries a read receipt and is archived — which matters both for operational clarity and for audit.
Shift and task tracking
Tasks are defined through BosLog, crew positions are tracked, and communication and task records can be reported at the end of a shift.
Can an organisation run its own closed network?
Yes. When a private closed communication network is set up, communication data stays on the organisation's own server and never leaves it. The organisation decides who may join the network, and manages teams, permissions and task definitions itself.
This structure is preferred particularly in energy and defence-adjacent operations that carry data confidentiality obligations. The network keeps working the same way whether or not an internet connection is present.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to replace our existing radio system?
No. BosNets was not designed to replace voice radio but to carry what radio cannot: written instructions, live location, emergency alerts and a record. Most field crews use radio and BosNets together.
Do we need to install infrastructure on site?
No. The devices find each other and form their own network; no cabling, antenna mast or SIM card is needed. On very large sites a solar-powered BosBase relay station can be placed on a vehicle roof or a fixed point to extend coverage.
How large a team does it scale to?
From small maintenance crews to sites with hundreds of workers. Because every device that joins the network also acts as a relay, the covered area grows as the team grows.
Can we access communication records afterwards?
Yes. All communication is timestamped and viewed through the BosLog desktop application. The records can be used for safety reporting, incident analysis and legal traceability.
