BosApp — Field Communication App
BosApp is the field-side interface of the BosNets ecosystem, running on Android and iOS. From a single app a team member sends text messages, shares their location, sees the team on an offline map and raises an emergency alert when needed. Its defining feature is hybrid transport: when cellular or internet coverage exists, messages travel through the BosNets server and the range limit disappears; when there is no coverage, the same message drops onto the mesh through the BosMag beside you. Switching between the two modes is automatic and requires no user action. A team member leaving cellular coverage falls back to the mesh quietly, and queued messages sync when they return to a network.

What it does
Text carries what voice radio cannot
On voice radio the speaker occupies the channel, gets misheard on a noisy site and leaves no record. A written message waits if the other side is not looking, anyone joining later sees the history, and all traffic is timestamped and stored.
Offline maps and live location
Team positions appear live on the map, and the map works without internet. When something is found, the location is marked with a single tap and the marker reaches everyone on the network. Reading coordinates aloud disappears.
Task and status tracking
Team leaders define tasks and track who is where and which task is at which stage. The operation is run from one screen.

How does BosApp connect to BosMag?
The BosMag device connects to the phone over Bluetooth, paired once. The devices then talk to each other over radio frequency as a mesh network. In short, the phone-to-device link is Bluetooth, and the device-to-device link is the mesh.
Can I use BosApp without a BosMag?
With internet or cellular coverage, BosApp works on its own and keeps you in touch with the team. In areas with no coverage you need a BosMag beside you to reach the network — that is the layer which forms the mesh.
Do the maps really work without internet?
Yes. Map data is stored on the device, so it opens in areas with no coverage. Because team positions travel over the mesh, live tracking on the map also works without a network.
Are messages encrypted, and where are they stored?
Communication data is recorded and accessed through BosLog. When a private closed network is set up for an organisation, the data stays on that organisation's own server and never leaves it; the organisation decides who may join the network.
What happens when a team member leaves cellular coverage?
There are two different kinds of coverage here and they should not be confused. When the phone drops off the cellular network or the internet, the app quietly switches to the mesh through the BosMag beside it; the user does nothing and communication with the team continues. If the person also moves beyond the range of the mesh — far enough that they cannot reach the nearest BosMag — communication stops; in that case the devices carried by team members in between, or a positioned BosBase relay station, close the gap. When the phone reaches a network again, the messages queued in the meantime sync with the server and the history stays intact.
