Accessibility Statement

As a team working on disaster and emergency communication, we know access to information has to be possible for everyone. This statement describes the current accessibility status of bosnets.com as it is: what has been applied, what has not yet been done, and how to reach us if you run into a problem. We wrote it with verifiable items rather than a decorative compliance claim.

Measures applied

  • Every page has exactly one H1 and the heading hierarchy proceeds without skipping levels.
  • Pages are built with semantic HTML and use header, nav, main and footer landmarks.
  • All 110 images on the site carry descriptive alternative text.
  • Every image declares width and height, so content does not shift while the page loads.
  • The header dropdowns are keyboard operable, report their state with aria-expanded and close with Esc.
  • Button text contrast has been measured; all 67 buttons measured pass the WCAG 4.5:1 threshold.
  • Language is declared at page level and every page is served with the correct lang value.
  • The reduced-motion preference is honoured; animations stop when it is set.

Known gaps

The following have not been completed, and are stated here deliberately:

  • The site has not been through a formal end-to-end audit against WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • No independent third-party accessibility test has been commissioned.
  • No extensive user testing with screen readers has been carried out.
  • Alternative text on some blog images, while descriptive, does not include a long description.

Feedback

If there is content you cannot reach or a function you cannot use, please tell us. Naming the page and the assistive technology you use helps us fix it faster.
