Group Communication in Outdoor Sports
In outdoor sports, cellular coverage is part of safety. On mountains, in canyons, forests and ski areas the cellular network is often absent altogether or cuts out on the valley floor; when a group spreads out, nobody knows who is where. BosNets keeps communication within the group alive in these areas without needing a network. The BosMag each participant carries forms a mesh with the others; written messages get through, positions appear live on the map, and the offline map works without internet. If something goes wrong, pressing the emergency button on the device is enough: the identity and location of the person who pressed it appear on every screen in the group. On a long hike a group naturally spreads. Positions showing live on the map remove the need to go looking for whoever fell behind or pushed ahead.
In valleys and forests with no coverage
As long as the devices stay linked, communication within the group continues independently of any network. The offline map opens without internet too.

Pressing the emergency button sends identity and location to the group. Help heads straight for the coordinates instead of trying to work out where someone is.
What you need to carry
One BosMag per participant, smaller than a wallet: 7 x 6 cm, 200 grams, attaching magnetically to the back of a phone. A 48-hour battery covers multi-day routes.
The device connects to the phone over Bluetooth and communication runs through BosApp. No separate subscription, SIM card or frequency permit is required.

What is the range in mountainous terrain?
On a single hop the range is 5 km in open terrain and 2 km in urban areas. In mountains and forest it drops further; but since every device in the group acts as a relay, the signal is carried device to device across a spread-out group.
What group sizes does it suit?
From small climbing teams to large club outings; every device that joins widens coverage.
Does the emergency button work when my phone is off?
The emergency button is on the device itself and works without touching the phone. It was designed for exactly the situations where someone cannot reach their phone.
Is it water and impact resistant?
Yes. BosMag and BosBase carry an IP68 rating: dust-tight and water resistant. They are built for use in rain, snow and dusty terrain.
