# Communication in Defence and Security Operations

Coordination in security operations has two basic needs: knowing where the team is, and passing information in a way that leaves a trace. BosNets provides both independently of any network. Teams communicate by text on a private closed network; positions appear live on the map, tasks are assigned from the centre, and all traffic is timestamped and recorded. On a closed network, communication data stays on the institution's own server and never leaves it; the institution decides who may join. When there is no network or internet, the system continues over the mesh the devices form among themselves, so coordination carries on in areas where infrastructure is absent or unusable.

## Operational needs

### Continuous visibility of team positions

Team positions are tracked live on the map. The coordination centre sees the field without having to ask for locations, and assigns tasks accordingly.

### Text-based communication that leaves a record

Unlike voice, a written message waits, carries a read receipt and is archived. What was passed and when can be verified from the records afterwards.

### Independence from infrastructure

The system does not depend on the cellular network. Devices form their own network on the licence-free 869.4-869.65 MHz band; no frequency allocation or licensing process is required.

## Data security and the closed network

When a private closed network is set up, communication data stays on the institution's own server. Network membership, team definitions and permissions are managed by the institution, and the data is not transferred to any third party.

Communication records are viewed through the BosLog desktop console. They can be used for incident analysis, reporting and processes requiring legal traceability.
